The Palace of the Counts of Cervello was a central building for the political life of the city of Valencia since the XVI century, and became the official residence of the Spanish kings when they visited the city. The building became a symbol for the monarchic power and hosted pivotal events for the history of the country, such as the signing of the declaration that dissolved the First Spanish Constitution and the abdication letter of Queen Maria Cristina (1840).
